Hello! My name is Rachel Libke. Since the age of four, when I learned to read, I've been increasingly obsessed with all things literary. Reading led to writing, studying literature enabled me to better review books, and in my free time I enjoy organizing books and convincing everyone around me to read more.
That last point is why I love editing. Few things give me greater joy than connecting people with books they will love and helping more people to become readers. To me, editing is an important step in that process. Although it may not be as direct as dropping a book into a friend's lap and telling them to read it, helping an author to perfect their work makes such book-love possible. Each step in the editing process helps to polish the writing, and professional writing which soars is the sort that readers fall in love with. Being a part of the book-creation process is one of the most incredible and meaningful jobs I can think of.
Inevitably, I studied English Literature in college. I graduated in 2015 with my bachelor's degree from Thomas Edison State University. I have since supplemented that education with various classes from the Christian PEN, including courses such as Editing Fiction. Most recently, in 2018, I achieved a certificate in Editing through the University of Chicago Graham School.
I am a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association (EFA), Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), and Professional Editors Network (PEN).
